Rosenqvist Scores Runner-Up Finish at Portland

Portland, Ore. (Aug. 9, 2026) – A strong weekend from start to finish at the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland culminated in a second-place finish for Felix Rosenqvist, earning the Meyer Shank Racing driver his third podium of the 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.

Marcus Armstrong’s race was looking up as he raced his No. 66 OnlyBulls Honda into the top ten after starting 20th in the early stages of the race. But Armstrong’s string of bad luck continued with the New Zealander retiring on Lap 33 due to an engine failure.

Rosenqvist - which partnered with SiriusXM and Grateful Dead Radio (Ch. 23) to celebrate the life of Jerry Garcia and The Days Between - led the field to the green flag from pole position—his eighth career pole—and immediately settled into the fight for the win. Opting for a three-stop strategy, Rosenqvist stretched his opening stint to Lap 31 on Firestone primary tires before making his first pit stop for another set of primaries.

The No. 60 SiriusXM Honda benefited from the eight-lap tire advantage over competitors running the Firestone alternates, allowing Rosenqvist to remain firmly in podium contention throughout the race. He surrendered the lead during the first round of pit cycles, but began closing the gap once he switched to the alternate tires just past the halfway point.

With Rosenqvist under one-second behind the leader, the team called the Indianapolis 500 winner into pit lane for his final stop on Lap 82 for primaries - one lap prior to the lead car. The Swede maintained his pace through the final stint, holding firm in second to secure a podium finish for the team.

The next round of INDYCAR action heads north of the border for the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham on August 16th.

Meyer Shank Racing Driver Quotes:

Felix Rosenqvist: “I’m really happy with second place, but it’s frustrating to be that close. It’s just in the details. Alex did a really good first stint, saving one more lap of fuel, and the overcut was so powerful. I didn’t do a great launch in that pit sequence either. Today was hard because it was a game of lapped cars throughout the race and dealing with the traffic. Overall, though, it was a good day for us on the Meyer Shank Racing No. 60 and a good day for Honda with three Hondas on the podium. This result is good for our championship points and our momentum going into the end of the season.”

Marcus Armstrong: “I just feel bad for myself and for the team, really. We’ve put in so much work you can’t believe it. We were having such a great weekend. But three engine failures in four races. It felt very similar to Road America where it felt like an overboost. We need to figure it out and come out strong in Canada.”
