Rosenqvist Qualifies Third for INDYCAR Season Finale at Laguna Seca

Monterey, Calif. (Sept. 5, 2026) – Felix Rosenqvist will start from the inside of the second row for Sunday’s Mission Foods Grand Prix of Monterey after qualifying third for Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Marcus Armstrong will start 10th for the 95-lap NTT INDYCAR SERIES season finale.

Both MSR drivers advanced from the opening round of qualifying after competing in the 13-car Group 2. Rosenqvist posted a 1:09.418 lap to finish third in the group, while Armstrong was fourth with a 1:09.591 to send both cars through to the Fast 12.

Armstrong dealt with a low right-rear tire during the Fast 12, forcing the No. 66 REMAX Honda back to pit lane before returning on used alternate tires and eventually switching to the usual new set of reds. Armstrong posted a 1:09.995 lap to qualify 10th.

Rosenqvist continued his run through qualifying with a 1:09.409 lap in the Fast 12, grabbing the sixth and final transfer spot into the Firestone Fast 6. The Swede saved his quickest lap of the day for the final round, posting a 1:09.193 - which was just six one-hundredths off of pole - to secure third in the No. 60 SiriusXM Honda featuring Nickelback and SiriusXM's Octane (Ch. 37). The result matches MSR’s best qualifying effort at Laguna Seca, also set by Rosenqvist with a third-place start in 2024.

Always tough to get through with all of the sand and traffic. I gave it a good try in the end. I missed it a little bit in the corkscrew, so maybe there was a pole in there, I'm not sure. P3 is a good starting point for tomorrow." 

Marcus Armstrong: “Twas not my best job in Q2, but still feeling good with the improvements in the car after this morning’s session. Everyone in the Fast 6 used new reds, and we have an extra set. So we’ll have some fun out there starting from P10.
