OFF THE CLOCK: Getting to Know Mick Schumacher

From surfing halfway around the world to preparing for a new chapter with Meyer Shank Racing, Mick Schumacher will keep busy away from the race track.

As he looks ahead to the 2027 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, Schumacher is making the most of his time away from competition. He recently returned from a surfing trip to the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia, with more travel on the calendar, including stops in Utah, Indianapolis, Mallorca and Columbus, Ohio, where he'll spend time at the MSR shop.

While there's plenty to enjoy during the off-season, Schumacher is eager to get back behind the wheel.

"I've really missed the competition, fighting for positions, and everything that comes with it," he said. "I'm especially excited to work with the crew and see what we can achieve together."

He's equally enthusiastic about the work that happens away from the circuit as he gets to know his new team.

"I'm really looking forward to all the work that goes on behind the scenes," Schumacher said. "Building relationships, working closely with everyone, and putting everything in place to give ourselves the best possible chance of having a great season.”

Sim racing or karting? Karting.
Rain race or dry race? Normally I'd say rain, but since we barely race in the rain in INDYCAR, I'll go with both.
Beach or mountains? Probably beach, although I love the mountains too.
10 minutes early or 10 minutes late? Depends on the day. I can be both. 😏
Window seat or aisle seat? Window seat.
Summer or winter? Summer.
