Armstrong Finishes in Top 10 in Two Day Milwaukee Battle

Milwaukee, Wisc. (Aug. 30, 2026) – In an unusual Milwaukee Mile weekend, Race 1 of the INDYCAR doubleheader stretched across two days after weather halted Saturday’s 250-lap Snap-On Makers and Fixers 250, with the remaining laps completed Sunday following Race 2.

Felix Rosenqvist wasted little time moving forward from fifth on Saturday, advancing to second by Lap 14 before taking the lead on Lap 22. Once out front, Rosenqvist pulled away leading the race and building a 6.7-second advantage by Lap 40.

Rain brought out the first caution on Lap 65 with Rosenqvist running second and Marcus Armstrong 16th. As conditions worsened, the field remained under caution, allowing Armstrong to advance to 12th before INDYCAR displayed the red flag on Lap 90 with Rosenqvist still second.

After multiple attempts to dry the track, officials postponed the remaining 160 laps until Sunday evening.

Rosenqvist restarted second and Armstrong 12th, with the two MSR Hondas taking different strategy approaches. Armstrong pitted under yellow before the race returned to green, a decision that paid off when the next caution came on Lap 151. Running fifth at the time, Armstrong was able to make his next stop under yellow and emerged with a tire advantage for the restart.

Both MSR Hondas lined up inside the top six with fewer than 100 laps remaining and were positioned for a strong run to the finish. Armstrong restarted fourth for the final 24-lap sprint and remained among the top five before ultimately taking the checkered flag ninth.

Rosenqvist lined up seventh for the final restart but was shuffled back through the field in the closing laps, finishing 17th.

Saturday’s green flag also marked a milestone for MSR manufacturer partner Honda, which officially secured the 2026 INDYCAR Manufacturers’ Championship.

With Race 1 complete, MSR faced a quick turnaround before returning to the Milwaukee Mile three hours later for Race 2 of the INDYCAR doubleheader. Rosenqvist started seventh, with Armstrong lining up ninth for the Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250.
