Acura MSR Takes Top-Five Finish in Indianapolis Sprint

Indianapolis, Ind. (Sept. 20, 2026) – Acura Meyer Shank Racing (Acura MSR) came away with fifth and seventh-place finishes in Sunday’s TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The No. 60 Acura MSR w/ Curb-Agajanaian Acura ARX-06 ran inside the top five throughout the two-hour, 40-minute race, while the No. 93 Acura MSR w/ Curb-Agajanian Acura ARX-06 worked its way back through the field following two separate incidents.

Starting from pole, Tom Blomqvist led the field to green in the No. 60, while Nick Yelloly lined up fifth in the No. 93. Yelloly was hit from behind and spun in Turn 2 on the opening lap, dropping the No. 93 to the back of the GTP field.

Following an early caution, Blomqvist maintained the lead before slipping back as the opening stint progressed. With 90 minutes remaining, Blomqvist pitted from third to hand the No. 60 Acura over to Colin Braun. Yelloly followed shortly after, handing the No. 93 Acura over to Renger van der Zande. Following the first GTP pit cycle, Braun ran fourth and van der Zande ninth.

A full course yellow with just over an hour remaining brought both cars back to pit lane. The No. 60 took two tires, gaining one position in pit lane and allowing Braun to restart fourth. The No. 93 took four tires, giving van der Zande fresh rubber for the run to the finish. van der Zande avoided an incident on the restart to move from ninth to seventh before charging to sixth with 33 minutes remaining.

The No. 93 was hit from behind for a second time just three minutes later, dropping van der Zande to eighth before he recovered to finish seventh. Braun settled into fifth in the No. 60 and with few cautions and limited opportunities for strategy or passing, the order remained unchanged through the final 25 minutes.

Sunday’s race marked a milestone for Meyer Shank Racing, with the team recording its 400th IMSA start. The weekend also saw Blomqvist earn his seventh career WeatherTech Championship pole and the 25th IMSA pole for Meyer Shank Racing.

Acura MSR will close out the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the 10-hour Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Sept. 30-Oct. 3. The 2.54-mile, 12-turn circuit will host the season finale and final round of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

Tom Blomqvist (No. 60): “Tough, tough race. We just really struggled for race pace and we just got eaten up. It was really difficult to drive the car and we just struggled a lot to keep the pace. Unfortunately it was only a matter of time before people would get by us. Lost positions in the first stint, and kind of the same thing over the course of the rest of the race. Unfortunately we just didn't have the pace to do anything better today.”

Colin Braun (No. 60): "It’s tough when you start on the pole, you don’t want to fall back and not finish first. We struggled a little bit on the longer runs. And then a couple of cars short-filled on the pit stop, like they tend to do, and jumped us. Then we tried taking two tires on the last stop to just try and make something happen. It was fun being up in the mix for a bit, and then we only had the two new tires and continued to struggle. I think P5 is a decent finish for us, especially because we’ve had our fair share of struggles on the 60 side.”

Nick Yelloly (No. 93): “Our race was ruined in Turn 2 unfortunately. We were able to climb back up to P7 and I don’t think we really had the pace for much more. The [No.] 60’s P5 was probably possible for us too, but we struggled on the long runs. Onwards and upwards to Petit where we have to finish off strong.”

Renger van der Zande (No. 93): "It was tough from the start when we got hit by the No. 40 and we moved all the way to the back. We moved forward quickly and I overtook a lot of cars. I think a P4 was possible today but I got hit by the Ford in the braking zone going into Turn 7 so that was a big loss there. I still had a little pace at the end, but not enough to really do well.”
