Detroit, Mich. (31 May 2025) – Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) earned one of its best qualifying results in the three years of racing on the streets of Detroit as Marcus Armstrong (No. 66 Root Insurance Honda) claimed the 10th starting spot for Sunday’s Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.

Armstrong took the team’s second-best qualifying finish since the Detroit race moved from its long-time home at Belle Isle to the 1.645-mile street circuit in 2023, carding a best lap of 61.2434sec (96.696mph). The New Zealand-born driver was 11th after the Fast 12 round of qualifying and moved up to 10th after the final grid was set due to penalties to other cars.

Felix Rosenqvist (No. 60 SiriusXM Honda) improved his qualifying effort from last year’s Detroit run, narrowly missing out on Saturday’s second round after posting a best lap of 61.4149sec (96.426mph) around the narrow layout. He improved eight spots over last year’s Detroit effort and will start 14th.

There is great reason for optimism for MSR for Sunday as both drivers found their way toward the sharp on of the grid last year after tough qualifying sessions. Armstrong came all the way from 19th on the grid to finish third and earn his first-ever NTT INDYCAR SERIES podium while Rosenqvist climbed 14 places throughout the 100-lap race to finish eighth.

Sunday’s Detroit Grand Prix will be broadcast live starting at 12:30pm ET on FOX. SiriusXM will also host live IndyCar Radio coverage on XM Ch. 218.

Meyer Shank Racing Driver Quotes:

Marcus Armstrong: “It was a tough qualifying. In the end we didn’t have enough speed. I felt like my lap was really strong, but we missed a lot of lap time compared to the guys in the front. We have some work to do tomorrow, but we’ll see how it goes.”

Felix Rosenqvist: “I got caught up in traffic that affected my lap when we should have been pushing, so we didn’t get the time that the No. 60 SiriusXM car could do. It’s not ideal and even though this race has had a lot of yellows in the past, I don’t think that will be the case as much tomorrow, so track position is key. We will have to just find a way to fight forward in the race.”
