Armstrong and Rosenqvist pick up a combined 5 spots in the final 13 laps to finish seventh and 10th.

Indianapolis, Ind. (10 May 2025) – Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) opened its month of May by showing the benefits of a day’s long battle, using late-race passes to earn the team’s second dual-top 10 of the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season in today’s Sonsio Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

MSR newcomer Marcus Armstrong’s (No. 66 SiriusXM / Root Insurance Honda) longer fuel stints allowed him to lead laps for the fourth time in the year’s five races, and used his 85 trips around the 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course inside of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway to climb from 15th on the starting grid to place seventh.

While Armstrong matched a season-high with his result, his MSR stablemate Felix Rosenqvist (No. 60 SiriusXM Honda) qualified 12th and fought off the effects of a mid-race spin and made a gutty last-lap pass to take the final spot in the day’s top 10. The result gives Rosenqvist his fourth top-10 result in the year’s five starts and the sixth overall for the Ohio-based MSR team.

With a new tire rule implemented for this Saturday’s Sons Grand Prix, team’s were required to use each tire compound twice, forcing teams to make three pit stops throughout the 85-lap event.

As was the case last week in Alabama, Armstrong ran the longest fuel stints in the 27-car field and led six laps over two different pit cycles. Armstrong’s car also utilized a strategy that saw the New-Zealander be the only driver to finish out the final two stints on the Firestone alternate tire. Pitting earlier on his third cycle to get his final set of red Firestone tires, Armstrong fought through the last laps to move into seventh place at the checkered flag.

The first caution flag since the first lap of the 2025 season bunched the field up for a restart with 13 laps to go, and the MSR duo was equal to the task with Rosenqvist advancing four spots and Armstrong moving up one spot in the final 13 laps of the race.

Following today’s race, the team stays in place but shifts its focus toward seeking the fastest way around the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval as practice starts for the May 25th Indianapolis 500. The 2021 Indianapolis 500 winning team will expand to three cars as MSR minority owner Helio Castroneves attempts to win his record fifth Memorial Day Classic as practice starts on Tuesday, May 13.

Meyer Shank Racing Driver Quotes:

Marcus Armstrong:  “Today was a really well executed day, I thought. We pretty much did exactly what we planned. It’s tough that we started so far back and to have a proper good day running at the front, but we did the best with what we had and I’m really happy with this result.”

Felix Rosenqvist: “I made too many mistakes today, to be honest. I went off twice and kind of lost my lost my cool a little bit after our first pit stop. But we recovered well in the end with a top 10. I feel like we had pace for more today. So I’m a little bit bummed.”
