Meyer Shank Racing: Year in Review
As the year 2024 concludes, we take a moment to celebrate some of our favorite memories from the season. This year brought a mix of challenges and triumphs but with strong leadership and perseverance, we achieved some memorable moments! Here are some of our favorite moments of 2024:
Front-Row Start at St. Petersburg
In his debut with the team, Felix Rosenqvist kicked off the 2024 season with a stunning front-row qualifying run in Florida in addition to setting a new track record in qualifying. This impressive debut with Meyer Shank Racing showcased his quick adaptation to a new team and engineering staff, highlighting the strong synergy and competitive promise for the season ahead.
Pole Position and Victory at The Thermal Club Exhibition
With a new made-for-tv race weekend format at the Thermal Club where $1 million in prize money was up for grabs, MSR was in for a weekend of firsts and successes. Rosenqvist secured pole position during the first round of qualifying and claimed victory in the opening race. He then capped off the weekend with a P3 in the final race, taking home a $250,000 prize.
First-Ever INDYCAR SERIES Pole Position
Meyer Shank Racing achieved a historic milestone at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, with Felix Rosenqvist earning the team’s first-ever INDYCAR SERIES pole position. After previously securing two front-row starts in its INDYCAR history, MSR finally claimed the coveted top spot with the No. 60 car leading the field.
Indianapolis 500
Meyer Shank Racing marked its eighth year competing in the Indianapolis 500 with a significant milestone: fielding a three-car lineup for the first time. This effort highlighted the team’s growth in the series, with many of the IMSA crew stepping up to engineer and run the third car, driven by Helio Castroneves.
Milestone 150th Race
MSR celebrated its 150th INDYCAR start at the Grand Prix of Portland. Despite setbacks during the weekend, David Malukas set the fastest lap of the race, highlighting the team’s perseverance with the No. 66 car entry. The milestone race start showcases MSR’s journey in the INDYCAR SERIES, starting with it’s debut in 2017, a six race season in 2018, expanding the program to 10 races in 2019 and ultimately to a full-season in 2020. The team added a second full-season entry in 2021 and since, has been a competitive force within the field.
Firestone Fast Six Success
Meyer Shank Racing secured 15 appearances in the Firestone Fast Six qualifying rounds over the course of the season. The results were a remarkable improvement for the Ohio-based team, with the previous Firestone Fast Six qualifying outing during the 2022 season.
MSR x SiriusXM Collaborations
Meyer Shank Racing and long-time sponsor, SiriusXM took it’s partnership to a whole new level this season. The two blended the excitement of motorsport with the power of music. MSR featured five artist SiriusXM channels on the side of it’s Indy car and hosted the artists on race day. Throughout the season, fans were treated to unique artist collaborations that brought energy and personality to the race weekends, creating unforgettable experiences at each venue:
- St. Petersburg: Bon Jovi and Bon Jovi Radio (XM Channel 312) energized the start of the season.
