Detroit, Mich. (30 May 2025) – Acura Meyer Shank Racing with Curb Agajanian (“Acura MSR”) saved its best for last in qualifying for the Detroit Grand Prix, scoring a front-row sweep.

Nick Yelloly captured his first career pole in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition, turning a final lap of 1:05.762-seconds in the No. 93 Acura ARX-06.

Yelloly went to the pole with less than four minutes remaining, and then bettered his speed on his next two circuits despite lightly brushing the wall several times. Tom Blomqvist also used a last-lap flier to clock in second – gaining a position – running 1:05.908-seconds on the tight layout through the streets of the Motor City.

Meyer Shank Racing has had two front-row qualifying sweeps in his IMSA career – 2019 with its Acura NSX GT3s at Watkins Glen and 2008 at the Rolex 24 Hour with its pair of DPs.

Saturday’s IMSA feature has a green flag scheduled for 3:40 PM ET. Fans can watch flag-to-flag coverage on Peacock beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET, as well as IMSA TV Live and IMSA YouTube outside the U.S. The live Qualifying Stream will air on Peacock Friday at 4:50 p.m. ET.

Meyer Shank Racing Team Quotes:

Nick Yelloly: “First pole position for myself in IMSA and obviously pole is great for all of Acura, HRC and Meyer Shank Racing. Really happy about the couple laps we did there particularly at the end, I don’t think there was much more left in it. Best place to start on a street circuit is up front and we’ll see what we can do tomorrow.”

Tom Blomqvist: “Obviously fantastic qualifying for the team and awesome job by Nick (Yelloly) to get the pole. They had some really good pace today, so fair play to them, they did really, really well. Obviously I’m a little bit disappointed to not get the pole, but I’m super happy for the team and for Acura and HRC for getting a front row lockout; 1-2 is the best place to be for us as a team. Let’s see how tomorrow goes, it’s definitely going to be an interesting race.”
